Trails Opening Soon!!

HIC is planning the opening ceremony for the fitness stations on Coal Creek Trail in Cedar City, UT. Constructionon the equipment and fitness stations begins in May and a ribbon cutting has been scheduled for June 5, 2010.

There will be a 5k at 8am in conjunction with Cedar City Recreation with the Ribbon cutting beginning at 9am. Come and join the fun.

Upcoming Science Fairs

HIC will be participating in the upcoming science fairs in the elementary schools across Iron County. We will have a booth set up to provide students and their parents great information on fitness and diet. If you are headed to one of the science fairs at East Elementary, North Elementary, Enoch Elementary, Iron Springs Elementary and South Elementary, make sure to watch for us.

Welcome to Healthy Iron County’s blog. We are a local non-profit organization dedicated to the improvement of health in Iron County residents. Currently in Iron County and across the United States, obesity is becoming a growing healthcare concern. Healthy Iron County is implementing a campaign, called Move It. This campaign will encourage physical activity in a variety of ways: identify opportunities for activities; inform residents of physical, emotion and social benefits of more physical activity in their lives; and promote facilities and programs to provide opportunities for increased physical activity.

The Move It Campaign has three separate divisions: a Trails Division which is focused on implementing new trail systems throughout the County; a Schools Division, which is focused on providing activities and education to school age children; and the third division, the Business Division, which is focused on informing citizens aboutevents and opportunities through our website www.healthyiro nco unty.org
